Baby Baskets

The price of a baby basket depends on the size and the complexity.   But, generally they are:

Full size - $500 and up

Doll-sized of 10-day baskets - $250 and up

Miniature - $95 and up

This baby basket is made from hazel sticks and wrapped with spruce root.   Traditionally, the family who uses the basket makes the "life line" or the beaded decoration strung across the top and down the side to keep the baby's attention.  We've gone ahead and created the life line for this basket - it's made of dentalium, abalone shells, pine nuts, read jasper. black obsidian, and green serpentine jade beads.  Baby is held in the basket by using strips of leather (or other material) wrapped through the basket weavings and tied in the front.  This basket measures about 27" tall, 13" wide, and 8" deep.  Of course, baby should always be watched because these decorations are small and could be swallowed.  Posted 10/10/2011  SOLD

This is a newborn-sized baby basket, sometimes it's called the 10-day basket.   This basket is made of willow sticks and the edge is wrapped with spruce root.  Traditionally, the family who uses the basket makes the "life line" or the beaded decoration strung across the top and down the side to keep the baby's attention.  We've gone ahead and created the life line for this basket - it's made of seashells, beads, bear grass braids, and juniper berry seeds.  Baby is held in the basket by using strips of leather (or other material) wrapped through the basket weavings and tied in the front.  This basket measures about 21" tall, 9.5" wide, and 6" deep.  Of course, baby should always be watched because these decorations are small and could be swallowed.  SOLD
